On day 2 of going to Mt Cardigan, we got on the bus at Hopkinton Middle High school. After about a 50 minute bus ride, we arrived at Mt Cardigan lodge. When we got off the bus we immediately got into our groups. Day 2 was particularly a pretty wet and foggy day, and our group knew that this hike wasn’t going to be easy. We started off by climbing the easy fire road, until we got to a sign that said Mt. Firescrew. After 15 minutes of climbing the trail, we stopped by a huge rock, we took some sketches of our surroundings and got back on the trail. After 1hr of not falling I slipped on a steep rock and sliced my hand open, our AMC guide applied a bandage and wwe kept moving. Then we took a stop to eat lunch, I embraced the beautiful view while eating my sandwich, and sketched the ancient looking moss. As we gained elevation, we came across a particularly steep and slick section of rock. We had to use the roots to pull ourselves up, but we made it to the next view point. Sadly that is where we ended our hike, because of wet conditions, but it was not over yet. As we descended the mountain we walked past similar scenery and views, and managed to make our way back to the bus, to get a ride home.

On the bus we thought about the theme of Geography! which was Regions.Todays theme of Geography! was Regions, because we climbed Mt Cardigan and Mt Firescrew, where we saw a lot of different alpine environments and different rock types. We also came from Hopkinton in Merrimack county, and went to Alexandria in Grafton county. Then we saw the two different mountains, Cardign and Firescrew. Finally we saw Newfound lake, which is part of a watershed Region. Overall, all of these examples represent Regions.
